Weather
September is a desirable time to visit London with mild temperatures during the day and possible light rainfall. During the day, temperatures may rise to 20°C (about 68°F). At night the lows drop to a cooler 11°C (about 52°F). Paris weather is slightly warmer. Temperatures may rise to 22°C (about 72°F) during the day with cooler temperatures at night.
Transportation
The best way to get around is either by taxi, bus, or train. The London Underground, or “Tube,” is probably the most efficient way to get around the city. This extensive rail network allows riders to access most of London’s key attractions, which are within walking distance of a metro station. The London bus system also has an extensive network of routes covering most places in the city and is the most economical way to get around, as well as one of the most scenic.
Currency
The United Kingdom’s official currency is the pound sterling (GBP). France’s official currency is the euro (EUR).
Electricity
The electrical current in the United Kingdom runs on 230-volt with a frequency of 50Hz (the same as France). North American appliances will need an adaptor and a converter while dual-voltage appliances will simply require an adaptor.
Traveling to Paris
For economical and convenient travel from London to Paris, attendees are encouraged to take advantage of the Eurostar train. The train departs from London St. Pancras Station and arrives at Paris Gare du Nord. The trip typically takes around two hours and thirty minutes.
To get to St. Pancras Station via public transit, plan your journey here to find the quickest route. It is important to arrive at London St. Pancras Station with enough time to clear security and passport checks—Eurostar recommends arriving an hour and fifteen minutes prior to departure time.
For optimal pricing and availability, train tickets should be purchased early (Eurostar recommends four months in advance). Tickets can be changed for free up to seven days before departure. To purchase tickets, please click here.
